Clyde Stubblefield joins Celebrity Judges lineup

MADISON, Wis. (May 2, 2008)—The second annual Cars on State Classic Car Show returns to State Street in Madison on Saturday, May 10, 2008, from 10 am to 3 pm, showcasing 100 classic cars.  Organized by the Greater State Street Business Association with support from Madison’s Central Business Improvement District (BID), this family-friendly event offers a perfect day to come downtown, take a stroll to see the cars and talk to the owners, grab a bite to eat, and shop for a last-minute Mother’s Day gift.  Last year, thousands of attendees packed State Street for the inaugural event.  For information, including where to park and how to get a free Downtown Madison Map & Guide, see www.carsonstate.com or call (608) 443-1974.


 


The show filled up quickly after the success of last year’s event.  Cars on display will range from a 1934 Brewster Town Car to a 1941 Lincoln Continental Convertible, a 1955 Bel Air Convertible official “Indy” Pace Car, a 1958 Corvette Rag/Hard Top (celebrating its 50th anniversary this year!), and a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner.  Cars will be on view on State Street from the Capitol to Gilman St., with additional cars on display on the 200 and 300 blocks of North Henry St., including “Corvette Corner” on the 200 block of North Henry St.


 


The celebrity judges’ lineup changes include the addition of “The Funky Drummer” Clyde Stubblefield and UW women’s basketball team alumnus Ericka Engen, plus (as previously announced) auto expert Matt Joseph, radio personality Fletcher Keyes of the Fletch and Dana morning team on 94.9 WOLX, two former members of the UW Badger Football Team Paul Hubbard and Joe Walker (former team member Marcus Coleman will not be able to participate as was previously announced), and two members of The Mad Rollin’ Dolls, Madison’s one-and-only all-girls flat-track roller derby league—“Vanna Whitetrash and “Dolly Pardon Me.”  Prizes will include “Best of Show” in three categories, based on the year of the car, plus ten “Funny Bone” awards. Prizes will be announced at 3 pm on May 10 at Lisa Link Peace Park, 452 State Street.
