A Victorious Mic 92.1FM, And Those Who Helped to Make It Happen

(Madison, WI – December 13, 2007) Jeff Tyler, Vice President and Market Manager of Clear Channel Radio Madison, which owns and operates WIBA-AM, WIBA-FM, WXXM-FM, WMAD-FM, WTSO-AM and WZEE-FM, is proud to be celebrating the one-year anniversary of The Mic, 92.1’s listeners fighting to keep the station on the air. Brian Turany, Program Director of The Mic says, “Please join me, Lee Rayburn, and Stu Levitan at High Noon Saloon on Saturday December 22nd from 4p-7p. We’re inviting all listeners and advertisers to mix, mingle and be merry.”

Last December, the progressive talk format on The Mic was saved within days of a format change. Listeners rallied and signed petitions and advertisers stepped up. On December 22, 2006 it was officially announced that The Mic 92.1 would not change. “On the anniversary of that great decision we’d like to get together with you again. Everybody on this end of the radio would like to thank you for listening and/or advertising. There will be some special entertainment and Lee Rayburn is working on a mix of local music you may have heard on his show. This date also happens to be Winter Solstice; the day with the least amount of sunlight in the year. So, after our party, the future will literally be getting brighter as we head into a HUGE election year,” says The Mic 92.1’s Program Director, Brian Turany.

The Mic 92.1 is home to some local favorites talk hosts like Lee Rayburn and Stu Levitan as well as some national talk hosts such as Stephanie Miller and Ed Schultz. The Progressive Talk format is enhanced by original programming such as the Hispanic radio program, La Original.
