SC Johnson Recognized Again as One of the Top US Companies for Hispanic Americans

RACINE, Wis., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ — SC Johnson has again been named by Hispanic Magazine as one of the 100 companies that offer the greatest opportunities for Hispanic Americans in the United States. For the seventh consecutive year, SC Johnson has appeared on Hispanic Magazine’s Corporate 100 list, which highlights companies that offer exceptional opportunities for Hispanics in employee-recruitment and retention, scholarships, minority vendor programs and support for Hispanic organizations.

Hispanic Magazine, which is one of the nation’s premier magazines for Hispanics, researched approximately 400 businesses across the United States to create the 2007 list. The full Corporate 100 list will appear in the February issue of Hispanic Magazine and on www.hispaniconline.com

“We are extremely pleased with this recognition as it speaks highly of our efforts to create a culture that provides excellent opportunities for Hispanic Americans,” said SC Johnson Chairman and CEO Dr. Fisk Johnson.

Celebrating diversity has long been recognized and valued at SC Johnson. The company is a corporate member of the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and a member of the board of directors for the Wisconsin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. For more than a decade in the United States, SC Johnson has had a formal supplier diversity program which integrates diverse businesses into their supplier network while maintaining company standards for quality and service.

The company also supports many philanthropic programs that benefit Hispanics. Through the SC Johnson Fund, in the U.S., the company donates, on average, five percent of pre-tax profits every year to increase local and global well-being. These contributions are targeted to advancing the three legs of sustainability: economic vitality, social progress, and a healthy environment. In the company’s hometown of Racine, Wis., SC Johnson has provided more than $600,000 to the San Juan Diego Middle School, a newly formed school that provides children of inner-city Hispanic families with better educational opportunities.

“We believe that social investment and business success are not mutually exclusive ideals,” said Johnson. “Our vision is to do what’s right for the communities in which we do business. Hopefully our efforts will make these communities better, now and for future generations.”
