Nine Wisconsite residents make Forbes’ richest Americans list

Nine Wisconsinites are on Forbes magazine’s list of the 400 richest Americans.

For the first time, it takes more than $1 billion to earn a spot on the list.

John Menard Jr. of the Eau Claire-based home improvement chain is Wisconsin’s richest with $7.3 billion.

Herbert Kohler, of plumbing fixture fame, is worth $4 billion. Kenneth Hendricks built his $3.5-billion fortune with building supplies.

Donald Schneider of Schneider National trucking and logistics is worth $3 billion.

Ken Hendricks, who owns the Beloit-based building supply materials company ABC Supply, wasn’t far behind with $2.6 billion.

Four members of the S.C. Johnson family have a collective worth of $8.8 billion.

William Kellogg of Kohl’s department stores is last on the list with $1.3 billion.
