Major Pension Plan Selects U.S. Global Investors Fund

SAN ANTONIO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–U.S. Global Investors, Inc. (Nasdaq: GROW), a boutique registered investment advisor, announces that one of its mutual funds in the natural resources sector has been chosen as a retirement-plan option for participants in a major public-employees pension program.

U.S. Global Investors Global Resources Fund (PSPFX) was recently approved by the Wisconsin Education Association Council as an addition to its defined contribution pension plan. WEACs current membership includes more than 98,000 public educators, support staff and retirees.

Were excited by the choice that the Wisconsin Education Association Council has made, and we look forward to providing their great organization with both investment management and client service, says Frank Holmes, CEO and chief investment officer at U.S. Global Investors. The union recognizes the investment opportunity in natural resources that is largely being driven by the strong and sustained growth in emerging markets.

The Global Resources Fund, which is team-managed by Mr. Holmes, Brian Hicks and Evan Smith, has won several awards and other recognition for its performance in recent years. It was named the best natural resources fund by Wealth Manager magazine in its October 2007 issue.

In 2007, U.S. Global Investors undertook a concerted effort to broaden its institutional and intermediary channel distribution. In the last several months, several of the companys funds were added to an industry-leading mutual fund wrap program with nearly $100 billion in assets.

In addition, agreements have been reached with one of the largest brokerage firms in the industry to make U.S. Global funds available for purchase by nearly 9,000 representatives and correspondents of a major independent broker dealer.

The barriers to entry to these distribution channels have risen, making a tough task even tougher. Fund performance is key, along with compliance and back-office support, Mr. Holmes says. This year we have beefed up our internal infrastructure — compliance, operations and marketing support — in preparation to secure these types of relationships that can help the flow of assets into our funds during this sustainable, yet volatile, supercycle in resources and emerging markets.

Results reflect the reinvestment of dividends and other earnings. Current performance may be higher or lower than the performance data quoted. The principal value and investment return of an investment will fluctuate so that your shares, when redeemed, may be worth more or less than their original cost. Performance does not include the effect of any fees described in the funds prospectus (e.g. short-term trading fees) which, if applicable, would lower your total returns.
