MILWAUKEE–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Television viewers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Las Vegas Nevada – the two largest markets served by Journal Broadcast Group – will soon have the ability to contribute content on the stations’ websites. Journal Broadcast Group is a Journal Communications’ (NYSE:JRN) company.
In partnership with Broadcast Interactive Media, a leading provider of website revenue, content, and video streaming for over 110 local broadcast websites, WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee and KTNV-TV in Las Vegas will participate in the launch of YouNewsTV™, the first-of-its-kind user-submitted video and social networking tool for local TV stations. YouNewsTV™ provides premium user-submitted content technology and content-editing capability to local news broadcast stations, effectively taking traditional news media outlets and allowing them to harness the growing popularity of user-generated video sites.
WTMJ and KTNV viewers will be able to submit breaking news, weather, and sports photos and video directly to the station, where it first will be reviewed to reject violent, obscene, graphic, and copyrighted material. Local and national advertisers will also have the ability to sponsor all YouNewsTV™ videos with 8- to 15-second pre-roll and display ads.
“This is an additional way for our company to become more involved in the lives of our viewers in Milwaukee and Las Vegas through the use of innovative, digital interactive media platforms,” said Doug Kiel, president of Journal Communications and vice chairman and CEO of the Journal Broadcast Group.
“This is a perfect marriage of a great technology solution with our local television station content producers,” added Carl Gardner, executive vice president of television and radio and digital interactive media. “Broadcast Interactive is providing us with a way to enable local viewers to send their perspectives on news and community content to our television stations. This material increases the user experience and adds value on our local websites. Also, our news directors may use some of the best clips during our daily newscasts.”
Timur Yarnall, CEO of Broadcast Interactive stated, “Broadcast Interactive is pleased to provide our TV station clients with the best tools to capture new revenue in this rapidly-changing media environment.
