SHERIDAN, Ind., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ — JBS United, a long-time provider of research-based animal nutrition, headquartered in Sheridan, Ind., has formed a strategic alliance with Waukesha, Wis.-based Agtech Products, Inc., an agricultural biotechnology company that specializes in microbiological- based products for animal agriculture. The goal of the relationship is to bring new productivity innovations to U.S. and international swine markets with offerings for other species to follow.

Under the agreement, JBS United will help market and distribute direct-fed microbial swine products developed in cooperation with Agtech Products. Adsero(TM), an all-natural, Bacillus-based premix, is the first of these products now available for the U.S. swine market. Adsero is fed to sows and gilts in gestation and lactation diets. Adsero meets the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s definition of a food ingredient that is Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS).
Rehberger says the livestock industry has changed its perception of microbial products over time. “When we started Agtech Products in 1993, no major pork-producing company was interested in microbials, but today many of them use our products because they realize what they can do.”
For JBS United, technology has changed greatly since it began operations in 1956. However, Webel says the company’s commitment to innovation hasn’t. “Our goal remains the same — to bring unique, research-based solutions from concept to commercialization as fast as possible.
