Governor Jim Doyle announced today that nominations are being sought for the 2007 Pulp and Paper Energy Efficiency Award, an award recognizing the Wisconsin pulp and/or paper mill that best shows outstanding achievement in implementing an energy efficiency project. Nominations will be accepted through April 20, 2007.
“Energy is a major cost for manufacturers – especially in the paper industry, the largest consumer of energy in Wisconsin – and bringing new energy efficient and environmentally friendly technology to mills will go a long way toward reducing these costs,” Governor Doyle said. “This award encourages and recognizes the achievements of those Wisconsin mills making the most promising strides.”
Applicants must be pulp and/or paper mills located in Wisconsin that have been successful in completing significant energy efficiency projects during the previous 18 months. Submissions are limited to one per mill site, and applicants should feel free to nominate themselves. A review panel of pulp and paper energy efficiency experts will select the winner.
The award, sponsored jointly by Focus on Energy and CleanTech Partners, Inc., will be presented during the Wisconsin Paper Council Annual meeting on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at the Best Western Bridgewood Resort Hotel & Conference Center in Neenah.
