“Vacant lands hold so much potential for new growth and vitality,” Governor Doyle said. “These grants are a great way to help grow businesses, create jobs, and energize communities.”
Yorktown LLC is redeveloping the site to create space for a recently-formed manufacturer of recycled products. Additional property will be used for warehousing for two businesses. The project will create 18 full-time positions. Total project cost is $3,945,000.
Commerce’s BEBR Program provides grant funds to municipalities, local development corporations, and the private sector to support assessment, remediation and return of contaminated lands to productive use. Brownfields are abandoned, idle, or underused industrial or commercial properties where redevelopment is hindered by real or perceived contamination.
