First Lady to Kick Off Second Annual Money Smart Week Wisconsin

Madison—First Lady Jessica Doyle will kick off Money Smart Week Wisconsin 2007 at a rally at the Executive Residence on Wednesday, May 16 at 1:00 p.m.

The event will take place following a meeting of the Governor’s Council on Financial Literacy (GCFL) which originated the idea for the event.   Mrs. Doyle is Honorary Chair of the GCFL.  Money Smart Week Wisconsin is a statewide social awareness campaign aimed at improving the financial literacy of Wisconsin citizens.

It is modeled after similar campaigns run by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in the cities of Chicago and Detroit.  Wisconsin’s inaugural effort last year was the first in the nation to target an entire state.  It attracted hundreds of partners and featured over 460 events and programs.

Money Smart Week Wisconsin 2007 will run from October 7-13.
