City of Fennimore to Receive $156,000

MADISON—Governor Jim Doyle today announced that the City of Fennimore, Grant County, will receive a $156,000 grant from the Community Development Block Grant-Public Facilities (CDBG-PF) grant to assist with local storm drainage improvements.

“This project will allow the City of Fennimore to accommodate the new Highway 61 improvements” Governor Doyle said. “I’m happy that we could invest and improve the quality of commute in Fennimore.”

The Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) is rebuilding a section of highway 61 (Lincoln Ave.) that runs through the City of Fennimore. The city will install underground utilities and street and storm drainage per D.O.T. formula. The completion of the project will contribute significantly to the drainage capacity of the project vicinity.

The Department of Commerce (Commerce) administers the CDBG Program.  These CDBG-PF grants play an important role in helping communities finance a wide range of projects designed to enhance the economic vitality of the community through the provision of community infrastructure, the expansion of tax base, job creation, and increased private investment in downtowns.
