New doctor integrates traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture into practice

Greenfield, Wis. – The physicians of Advanced Pain Management today announced that Dr. Denise Chang has joined the group. Dr. Chang, who is board eligible in physical medicine and rehabilitation, is dedicated to a holistic approach to patient care, including the integration of traditional Chinese medicine and medical acupuncture into her practice.

She will be available at the group’s Franklin location, 7400 W. Rawson Ave., which opened this fall to provide physical medicine and rehabilitation services that complement the interventional treatment services and procedures APM offers elsewhere.

“Pain can affect every aspect of a person’s life, and can negatively influence their physical, mental and emotional health,” said Dr. Chang. “It is my goal to provide a multidisciplinary, holistic approach to patient care that both facilitates the patient’s physical healing and inspires hope and the confidence necessary to conquer their pain.”

A California native, Dr. Chang earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California-Davis, and a doctor of medicine degree from New York Medical College, Valhalla, N.Y. Her physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Columbia University’s New York Presbyterian Hospital inspired in her a strong interest in the treatment of acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain using concepts of integrative medicine. In addition to being certified in medical acupuncture by the UCLA Helms Medical Acupuncture for Physicians program, she studied acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine at renowned universities in Beijing, China.

She is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPMR) and its Cancer Rehabilitation, International Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine and Acupuncture groups. She also is a member of the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine and American Academy of Medical Acupuncture.

Dr. Change lives in Waterford, Wis.
