The School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) is partnering with the Portage County Business Council (PCBC), Partners in Education, and the PK-18 Council for Central Wisconsin to present three consecutive educational forums this fall beginning Monday, September 25 and ending October 16.

All three forums will be held at the Sentry Theater in Stevens Point from 7 to 9 p.m. These forums are a free community event designed to inform parents, businesses, community members and educators about educational policies impacting our local schools.

“These forums are but one example of the School of Education and its faculty connecting with fellow educators, business and civic leaders, and parents on the complex issues facing parents and students in Central Wisconsin,” said JoAnne Katzmarek, head of the UWSP School of Education.

The forums include:
“Standards and Standardization in Education – What Society Expects of Schools,” presented by Gerhard Fischer, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, on Monday, September 25.

“No Child Left Behind – Past, Present and Future,” presented by Michael Thompson, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, on Monday, October 9.

“How Standards and No Child Left Behind Impact Local Schools,” presented by Bette Lang, superintendent of schools, Stevens Point Area School District, on Monday, October 16.

For more information on the forums call the PCBC at (715) 344-1940.
