UW Oshkosh: Business leaders named outstanding UW-Oshkosh alums

APPLETON – Two Fox Valley business leaders will be honored as outstanding University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh College of Business alumni on Feb. 18.

Darin Kath, president and chief operating officer (COO) of Jewelers Mutual Insurance Co. of Neenah, and Terri Todhunter, chief executive officer of Hoffman Corp. of Appleton, will receive the awards at the UW-Oshkosh College of Business Alumni Association’s alumni celebration at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton.

Todhunter earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing in 1978 and a master’s degree in business in 1989. Kath earned his bachelor’s degree in business in 1988.

The alumni association also will honor outstanding emeritus faculty member J. Arden Trine, a UW-Oshkosh accounting professor for 32 years, at the dinner.

Kath and Todhunter will be honored for their success and contributions to their companies and communities. Trine will be honored for his contributions to the business program and its students.

The alumni group has presented the awards to 25 alumni and seven retired faculty members since 1991.

As president and COO at Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company, Kath oversees the day-to-day operations of Jewelers Mutual and manages the budgeting and planning and continued development of the company’s leadership team.

A native of Oconto who grew up in Appleton, he serves on the board of directors for the Jewelers Board of Trade and the American Association of Insurance Services. Kath also has earned the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter insurance designation.

As president of Hoffman, Todhunter leads internal operations and implements business strategies consistent with Hoffman’s corporate vision. A native of Appleton, Todhunter is vice chair of the Appleton YMCA corporate board and is a member of the development committee of the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region Inc.

Trine, an accounting faculty member in the UW-Oshkosh College Business from 1970 to 2002, taught a variety of courses. They included advanced accounting, foundation courses in math and statistics, the graduate-level information systems course and the college’s capstone strategy course.

For 17 years, he led the college’s high school business simulation competition. He also was involved with teaching and consulting through the Koehn Institute, now the UW-Oshkosh Center for Community Partnerships, for 13 years.

The UW-Oshkosh College of Business, with more than 12,348 alumni and 1,700 current students, is accredited for business by AACSB International, the premier business school accrediting body.
