(Washington, DC) — Menomonee Falls Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner is pleased to announce a $6.4 million contract awarded earlier this month by the Department of the Army to Ace Precision Machining Corporation. A maker of gas turbine components for use in aircraft auxiliary power units and electrical power generation, Ace Precision operates out of two manufacturing facilities in Oconomowoc and Menomonee Falls, and employees 225 people.

This contract was awarded for a combustion liner in support of the Automotive Gas Turbine 1500 engine, which supports the M1 Abrams Tank. The AGT 1500, developed in the late-sixties, is a Gas Turbine Engine that produces 1500 SHP (Shaft Horse Power) to power the M1 Abrams battle tank. The engine delivers enough energy to propel the 68-ton vehicle at speeds of 45 miles per hour. As the backbone of the armored forces of the United States military, and several of our nation’s allies, the M1 Abrams Tank is integral to the war effort abroad.

“I want to extend my congratulations to the fine men and women of Ace Precision for the work they do,” said Sensenbrenner. “There are many ways for Americans to contribute to the war effort, the most evident being the thousands of men and women in uniform who are fighting terrorists abroad, but these soldiers cannot do it alone. Companies like Ace Precision provide them with protection by producing the technology that helps make the M1 Tank better.”

“I am proud of the work done at Ace Precision, and for its contribution not only to the war effort, but also to the economy of Southeast Wisconsin. On behalf of the Fifth District, and the men and women who are fighting in the War on Terror, I’d like to say thanks,” Sensenbrenner concluded.
