TOMAHAWK, Wis. – Plum Creek Timber Company (NYSE: PCL) today announced that Lynn Wilson, Wisconsin senior resource manager, has been named to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ (DNR) Forestry Best Management Practices Advisory Committee, as a representative of the Lake States Lumber Association.

The advisory committee was created in 2001 to provide leadership, advice and guidance to promote the long-term success of the DNR’s Forestry Best Management Practices (BMP), a series of voluntary guidelines designed to help landowners, loggers and natural resource managers protect the water quality during forest management activities. As a member of the committee, Wilson will be responsible for helping to evaluate and provide feedback on critical issues such as implementing BMP monitoring, updating the BMP manual and developing successful education and training programs.

The advisory committee is composed of approximately 20 members representing a variety of interests and backgrounds throughout the state of Wisconsin.

“Lynn has worked as a forester, log merchandising superintendent and now as a senior resource manager for Plum Creek, and therefore has extensive knowledge of the forestry industry,” said Rick Degen, of the Lake States Lumber Association. “Additionally, Plum Creek and other members of our association understand the importance of following Wisconsin’s Best Management Practices guidelines, and I am confident that Lynn’s experience in the field and with these guidelines will make her a strong asset to the committee and a positive representative of the Lake States Lumber Association.”

Wilson has 20 years of forestry and management experience, and her current duties with Plum Creek include overseeing all land management activities of the more than 500,000 acres the company owns in Wisconsin. Some of those land management activities include logging, road building, mapping, inventory and environmental compliance.

Wilson graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in forest management, and she also graduated cum laude with a Master of Business Administration from Thomas College. Wilson is a member of the Society of American Foresters, the Forest Resource Association – Lake States Technical Division Policy Committee and the Wisconsin Paper Council Forest Practices Committee.
