Planning Grant For Reedsburg

MADISON– Governor Jim Doyle today announced that the City of Reedsburg, Sauk County, will receive a $10,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Planning Grant to attract technology firms to its new business center.


 


“It makes sense to invest in community planning initiatives because effective planning is the key to future economic growth,” Governor Doyle said. “I am pleased that we are able to help Reedsburg take advantage of an opportunity to attract technology firms.”


 


The City of Reedsburg has invested $12 million to develop a utility that can provide the telecommunications capability necessary to attract technology firms. The community also has developed a business center that offers a municipal ready-to-build sites in a campus setting.  The city will use the grant to identify and evaluate businesses and industries that could use these services and create an implementation plan.  The project will leverage $9,000 in additional investment.


The CDBG Program helps finance business start-ups and expansions, incubator development, community planning, downtown revitalization and infrastructure improvements.
