NationalHabitat.com: Local Real Estate Search Engine Launches Site

Synopsis:

As house hunting season approaches, local entrepreneurs liberate consumers. Mark Williams and Dick Petersen, local realtors with 45 years of combined service, launched NATIONALHABITAT.COM in April — a house and apartment hunting website empowering consumers with information and easing advertising burdens for realtors, landlords, and For Sale By Owners [FSBOs].

The Issues:

Realtors, landlords, and FSBO spend inordinate amounts of money advertising.

Consumers have little time to find living spaces and 70+% go online for assistance.

Internet mapping technologies provide consumers with information they most desire — information exceeding that of the MLS.

The Solution

NatinalHabitat.com makes use of burgeoning online mapping technologies that makes finding living spaces easier. NatinalHabitat.com provides consumers with visual information about neighborhoods they most desire [aerial & street maps, information on neighborhood demographics, and more]. This means less driving for both consumers and realtors. Moreover, NationalHabitat.com allows consumers to go beyond typical listing information by allowing Realtors, landlords, and FSBOs to include ALL the relevant information that makes a property unique including the ability to hyperlink to other valuable information that consumers may find valuable.

Over coffee and cheese, Mark Williams and Dick Petersen turned house-hunting on it’s head — a topic the know well. They should; combined, they have over 45 years of experience in real estate. This experience provides them explicit insight towards improving house and apartment hunting.

One challenge is time. Not many can afford nor are willing to spend countless weekends driving in search of new living spaces. Yet, where people live is greatly important to them. Mark often recounts an email he received from an out-of-town client who was moving his family from Chicago. “I got this email that basically said: I want to find a house in a neighborhood, close to an elementary school, near a golf course, not far from work and I have next Saturday morning to do it.”

Although some find houses or apartments quickly, on average, people spend about 48 hours in house hunting.

According to Williams and Petersen, the constant and number one factor people consider when buying or renting is location. Petersen adds, “People want to be in a certain neighborhood for the schools or in a place that enables a fast commute to work. Some need to live next to a specific bus route or on the bike path. Others want to live in a neighborhood that has lots of nature trails and parks or is close to shopping.”

People come to house hunting with many ideals and although realtors specialize in matching ideals to homes, Williams and Petersen goal was to eliminate the time-intensity of house hunting, and ease advertising burdens for Realtors, Landlords, and FSBO by combing speed with important visuals.

Two years later, they’ve launched NATIONALHABITAT.COM– an Internet search engine arming homebuyers and apartment seekers with VISUAL information about locales before setting foot inside a car.

Designed with consumers in mind, NATIONALHABITAT.COM allows people to quickly look up open houses and houses for sale or rent by cities or zip codes. Buyers access aerial and street maps that show a property’s proximity to schools, shops, highways, recreation, etc. Moreover, consumers access hotlinks to school information, home warranties, or statistics on neighborhood demographics.

By providing people with information they want and when they want it [now], it saves consumers, sellers and realtors time.
