Marian College: School of Education John Reilly Education Program Aug. 21-22

Fond du Lac, Wis. — Marian College’s School of Education will hold its fourth annual John Reilly Education Program in Marian’s Stayer Center for Technology and Executive Learning Aug. 21–22.

The John Reilly Education Program is named for John Reilly, a Fond du Lac County businessman for 40 years, who had more than 20 members of his family pursue careers in education. To date, the funds from the John Reilly Foundation have secured speakers such as authors Peggy Deitz Shea and YuYi Morales, Eric Jensen and Ian Jukes.

This year’s speaker is Dr. Robert Marzano, author of Classroom Instruction That Works: Research-Based Strategies for Increasing Student Achievement, Classroom Management That Works: Research-Based Strategies for Every Teacher, and What Works in Schools: Translating Research into Action. Dr. Marzano will speak on his topics of research in classroom management and effective instructional practices. Teachers, school administrators, college faculty and education students are invited to attend free of charge.

Following this workshop, attendees are invited to participate in a one-credit or two-credit follow-up course putting Dr. Marzano’s research into classroom practice. Credits are available through the Marian College’s Professional Development Institute at $200 per credit.

Reservations must be made in advance as there is limited seating. Contact Brenda Mand at bmand@mariancollege.edu or (920) 923-8095 to secure your workshop reservation.
