Marian College: “Beaches Are Fun, but Beware of E. Coli” at Marian College April 11

Fond du Lac, Wis. — Marian College professor Susan Bornstein-Forst, Ph.D., will speak on her National Institute of Health (NIH) grant and research project at Marian College’s Stayer Center for Technology & Executive Learning Tuesday, April 11 at 3 p.m.

Dr. Bornstein-Forst was recently the recipient of a $150,000 two-year NIH grant to study pollution in Wisconsin bodies of water and beaches. She will use the grant for studies on fecal pollution of Wisconsin public waterways and recreational beaches, together with the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee Wisconsin Aquatic Technology and Environmental Research (WATER) Institute. Full-time Marian Biology students in 2006 and 2007 will be eligible to receive student stipends for independent research projects that address the specific aims of the grant.

During Bornstein-Forst’s presentation, “Beaches Are Fun, but Beware of E. Coli,” she will discuss the grant and the role that Marian College students have in the research project.

This presentation is free and open to the public.
