(Elm Grove, August 25, 2006–) Want to stop that insidious smoking habit that you’ve nourished all these years? This is a great time to let acupuncture help you kick the habit, suggests Dr. Arthur Rapkin, a local practitioner of acupuncture and oriental medicine at the Kindo Integrated Health Center in Elm Grove.

“If you’ve ever tried to stop smoking, you know how difficult that can be,” says Dr. Rapkin, who has practiced acupuncture for more than 20 years. “Our Freedom From Smoking program is an intensive but effective way of doing it for good.”

According to the National Institute of Health, acupuncture has been proven effective in stopping smoking, eliminating cravings to smoke and stopping withdrawal symptoms associated with the cessation of smoking.

“Acupuncture guides the movement of the body’s vital energies and positively influences the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems,” Dr. Rapkin says.

A widely experienced practitioner of oriental medicine, acupuncture and Chinese herbology, Dr. Rapkin serves on acupuncture boards and advisory committees for the state of Wisconsin and national health organizations.
