Jockey Donates 250,000 T-Shirts to Comic Relief 2006 Benefiting Families Affected by Hurricane Katrina

KENOSHA, Wis., Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ — Jockey International, Inc. donated 250,000 t-shirts, along with various other Jockey products, valued at $2 million to support the live broadcast Comic Relief 2006 concert helping families affected by Hurricane Katrina. Jockey is a leading manufacturer and marketer of comfort apparel products sold across the United States and throughout the world. As the official t-shirt sponsor of the concert, each individual that pledges the minimum donation of $30 will receive a free Jockey Comic Relief 2006 t-shirt.

In times of need, two key aspects of people’s lives tend to get lost — comfort and laughter. The partnership between Jockey and Comic Relief 2006 combines Jockey’s quest to “Satisfy the Human Need for Comfort” with Comic Relief’s mission to unite the comedy community behind some of society’s most relevant causes and pressing needs to restore lost laughter and comfort to people.

The Comic Relief 2006 concert will help families affected by Hurricane Katrina, which devastated the environment and caused suffering for all forms of life, both human and animal. Comic Relief is determined to address these tragedies by benefiting everyone from adults and elderly to children and pets. While the focus will be on New Orleans, Comic Relief will look for ways to assist the recovery efforts in other areas of the region where possible. Donations are already being accepted at the toll-free number 1-800-528-1000, or at Comic Relief’s Web site, http://www.comicrelief.org/.

“Jockey is a 130-year old, family run business. We pride ourselves on our strong values and commitment to helping families in need,” said Tim Pitt, Vice President of Marketing and Advertising. “The relationship we have developed with Comic Relief is a fun way to reward those who also understand the deep meaning of helping others by giving away one of our most classic garments.”
