Joan Collins, president of Joan Collins Publicity, Inc., Madison, was recognized by the Midwest Travel Writers Association for the national coverage the firm generated last summer for their client, Lake Geneva Cruise Line in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. The Spotlight Award was presented for the firm’s work to promote the mailboat tour, which was the focus of national coverage on CBS Sunday Morning, ABC, CNN and ESPN. In addition, feature placement in the Chicago Tribune appeared in newspapers around the country. As a result, The Lake Geneva Cruise Line experienced a 40 per cent increase in passengers last season.
The Midwest Travel Writers Association includes writers, photographers, editors and public relations representatives in 13 states in the heartland. It is the oldest professional
association of travel writers in the country.
