Governor Doyle Announces Grants to Enhance Services to Homeless Persons

MADISON – Governor Jim Doyle today announced that six organizations will share grants totaling $676, 313 through the Projects for Assistance in the Transition from Homeless (PATH) program administered by the Department of Commerce  (Commerce).

“I am pleased that we can assist these organizations as they enhance services for homeless persons,” said Commerce Secretary Mary P. Burke. “Expanding access to affordable housing linked with services not only helps meet the needs of these citizens, but reduces the incidence of chronic homelessness and further strengthens communities.”

The funded organizations will use their awards to provide outreach and services to homeless individuals.  PATH funds assist individuals transitioning out of homelessness and  provide training and technical assistance for building the capacity of programs that serve homeless persons with a serious mental illness.  For more information on this program, contact Marge Tully, Commerce, at 608/261-2510.
