State Provides $250,000 to Help Create Up To 150 Workers

KENOSHA – Governor Jim Doyle today celebrated the grand opening of the new Roundy’s Commissary in Kenosha. When fully operational, the facility will employ up to 150 workers. Governor Doyle joined Bob Mariano, Chairman and CEO, Roundy’s, Inc., Kenosha County Executive Al Kehl, Kenosha Mayor John Antaramian to cut the ribbon on the new facility.

In January of 2005, the Governor Doyle provided Roundy’s with $250,000 in Community Development Zone (CDZ) tax credits from the Department of Commerce to assist the company with the project. The design and plans for the facility were completed in November 2004, and construction began in February 2005. The new commissary is a state of the art food production facility that employs the latest technology and equipment available to the food processing industry.

“Roundy’s is a great Wisconsin company – with a long and proud history here,” Governor Doyle said. “And I am proud to help them celebrate a great accomplishment – securing their place in Wisconsin for years to come. My administration provided $250,000 in Community Development Zone tax credits to help Roundy’s make this significant investment in Kenosha. As we can see today – it was money well spent.”

Roundy’s, Inc. invested $22 million to construct and equip an 116,000 square foot food-processing facility in Kenosha. The commissary is currently producing ice and bottled water, and additional product lines will be added throughout 2006, and will include juice and other drinks, ice cream, meat products, cheese, and various deli and bakery items.
