Elizabeth Pernot has been named CEO and manager of STAR (Save to Achieve Results) Credit Union, a new credit union for children who are members of the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County. Pernot will teach STAR Credit Union members the benefits of saving money and encourage children at the Boys & Girls Club to open accounts, regularly deposit money and serve on committees.
Pernot , who holds a teaching degree and has been a substitute teacher in Dane County public schools, has been tutoring at-risk students since she was 15 years old.
STAR Credit Union, located at the Boys & Girls Clubs at 2001 Taft St., is the only independent credit union for children in the world, with its own charter. Two area credit unions, Great Wisconsin and Summit are partners in the venture, providing both time and money to offer children hands-on saving experience.
