MADISON – Governor Jim Doyle would like to invite executives from Wisconsin companies to join him at the 38th annual Midwest U.S. Japan Conference to be held in Indianapolis , Indiana , September 10 – 12, 2006.

“I would like your assistance in building a positive trade and investment relationship between Japan and Wisconsin ,” says Mary P. Burke, secretary of the Department of Commerce. “The Midwest U.S. – Japan Conference has always been a significant gathering of executives from Japanese and Midwest firms. It serves as a forum for bilateral trade issues, a showcase of investment opportunities, and an opportunity to develop the links and contacts that can help your firm successfully compete in Asia .”

Japan is an important part of Wisconsin ‘s export growth in that as it has the world’s second largest economy and is the state’s #3 export destination.

Conference topics include: “Challenges and Opportunities in a Global Economy,” “The Frontiers of Advanced Technologies,” “The Impact of a Developing Asia on Japan-US Business Relations” and more. Guest presenters include John Lechleiter, president and COO, Eli Lilly and Company, Seizo Okamoto, chairman, Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana, Howard Baker, former U.S. Senator and Ambassador of the United States to Japan and others.
