Dept. of Commerce: Environmental Regulatory Workshop in Milwaukee April 5

MADISON – Building owners, construction and demolition professionals, renovation and remodeling professionals and housing authority personnel will benefit from attending a workshop dealing with various new environmental building requirements on Wednesday, April 5, 2006. “Environmental Regulatory Requirements and Options for Building Owners and the Construction & Demolition Industry” will be held from 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. in 3rd Floor Conference Room of the Milwaukee Department of Neighborhood Services, 4001 S. 6th Street, Milwaukee.

“I encourage members of the building industry to attend and help Wisconsin adopt ‘green’ construction techniques,” said Department of Commerce Secretary Mary P. Burke. “By doing so, we can all expand our efforts to help protect and preserve our state’s natural resources for future generations.”

Topics at the workshop will include asbestos rules, proper waste disposal and recycling, proposed federal lead paint requirements for renovation projects, storm water requirements, green buildings and management of mercury.

Sponsored by The Small Business Clean Air Assistance Program, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the City of Milwaukee, Department of Neighborhood Services, registration is free, but is limited to the first 110 participants.
