Condon Oil Co. Inc.: Condon Oil joins Family Business Forum

OSHKOSH – Condon Oil Co. Inc. has joined the Wisconsin Family Business Forum (WFBF) at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

The firm known as Condon Companies is a wholesaler and retailer of petroleum and related products, with headquarters in Ripon.

“We decided to join the Wisconsin Family Business Forum as we begin planning for a successful transition to the third generation,” said Karla Block, comptroller and corporate secretary. “The forum is a good place to talk with other family businesses about the process and to get the tools we need.”

S ix members of the Bauman family are employed in the second-generation business.

Condon was founded by Donald Condon in 1928 and purchased by Kent Bauman in 1980. Last year, Kraig Bauman assumed the position of president. Kurt Bauman is vice president of fast food.

The company operates 33 Ultimart and 3 Holiday convenience stores throughout central Wisconsin, carrying ExxonMobil, Citgo or BP brands. The fast food division operates four A&W, six Subway and 13 Piccadilly restaurants in the stores, as well as a Subway in the Fond du Lac Wal-Mart.

Condon also provides tank-wagon delivery for farmers, home heating and business customers. The Bulk Oil Division, along with Payless Tires Stores, supply oils, tires and exhaust products.

Condon Transport is the firm’s truck fleet, hauling product to their multi-branded jobber/dealer locations throughout Wisconsin.

WFBF is Wisconsin’s oldest family business organization. Its membership includes 38 family businesses, five sponsoring family business organizations, two associate sponsoring organizations and the UW-Oshkosh College of Business.
