MIDDLETON, Wisc. (June 6, 2006) – On the heels of a big win at the U.S. Beer Tasting Championships, Capital Brewery scored nine awards at the 2006 North American Beer Awards held June 3 in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Capital Brewery walked away with three gold medals, two silver and four bronze. Capital’s Bavarian Lager, Dark Doppelbock and “1900” brought home gold, while the Blonde Doppelbock and Brown Ale each scored silver. Four others captured the bronze including Munich Dark, Maibock, Wisconsin Amber and Eisphyre, Capital’s unique new 20th anniversary brew.

“We are proud of our long-standing tradition of producing quality beer. But we’re even more proud of our ability to consistently produce beers that people really enjoy,” says Carl Nolen, the brewery’s President.

The North American Brewers Association announced the medal winners during the 12th Annual Mountain Brewers Beer Fest. Hundreds of entries representing breweries from New York to Alaska, Canada and Mexico, were judged. The competition provides an opportunity for commercially produced beers to be judged against the best beers in the country. The event is conducted as a single blind sampling followed by rank ordering of the entries within a category.

Capital Brewery Company, Inc. is a publicly-held company based in Middleton, Wisconsin. In addition to the new wheat ale, Capital Brewery brews seven annual, four seasonal and four limited release beers amounting to 17,000 barrels a year. In November 1998, it was named the top brewery in America by the Beverage Tasting Institute of America, an independent panel of international beer experts.
