(Milwaukee, May 8, 2006) — Some unwanted visitors may appear on your doorstep soon. With the first breezes of spring, they’ll be everywhere and potentially cause you some significant damage.

These early visitors include pests such as carpenter ants looking for soft, wet wood to feast on; wasps and bees, needing a new home of their own, plus centipedes, millipedes, fleas, spiders, squirrels, earwigs and the like.

Then come field voles or raccoons, destroying your landscaping; or shrews with poisonous toxins in their saliva.

They all join rats and mice, which hang around throughout the year but multiply prolifically outside when the weather gets warmer.

Pest control companies will get rid of these nuisance visitors for you. “And we’ll do it by utilizing integrated pest management (IPM), a control program that over recent years has relied less on the use of pesticides and more on baits, traps, sanitation, and exclusion techniques,” says Jerry Batzner, president of Batzner Pest Management. Batzner’s company calls their IPM program the B.A.N. System, which guarantees continuous pest protection.

“Many people contact us because they’re concerned about pests in general. They’ve never had an infestation of any kind and don’t want to take a chance on one. We’ll scout their property for entry points, and plug these up after we’ve taken appropriate and safe pest control steps,” he explains.

Invaders can enter through tiny holes in a structure’s foundation, plumbing or a shed. Insect eggs can be transported on clothing or furnishings.

Today’s pest control practices are far removed from the days when technicians sprayed only pesticides to battle infestations, says Batzner “Pest management professionals on our staff use new and improved technologies and IPM methods for control.”

These include repellents used to prevent queen wasps from building nests in roof underhangs, house cedar shakes or other popular wasp locations; and pheromone traps used as sex attractants to lure insects to their doom.

“Our company was among the first professional pest control firms in Wisconsin to develop and implement a successful IPM program,” he says.

“We’re dedicated to preserving the health, safety and property of area residents and businesses through the latest technologies, as well as performing our control procedures with minimum impact on our environment.

Batzner’s company has been in business for almost 60 years and has been a family owned business for all that time. They have offices in Milwaukee, Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, Racine and Madison.
