Harriet Brown, editor of Wisconsin Trails magazine, has won a month-long fellowship to the Vermont Studio Center, in Johnson, Vermont. The fellowship-which includes meals, a private studio, and uninterrupted time to work, and is valued at $3,500-is one of several funded by the Pleasant T. Rowland Foundation for writers and visual artists who live in the Madison area.

Brown will spend the month of August at the Vermont Studio Center, where she hopes to complete a book of poems and a first draft of a mystery set in Wisconsin. “I feel very lucky to have this opportunity,” she says.
