The Wisconsin Ethanol Coalition unveiled a website today to help educate consumers about the importance of ethanol use in Wisconsin.

The Coalition is a diverse group of businesses, environmental, statewide groups and local organizations who have come together to build both public and legislative awareness of ethanol issues in Wisconsin.

“We are excited to be a lead partner in the Wisconsin Ethanol Coalition,” said Bill Oemichen, President & CEO of the Wisconsin Federation of Cooperatives. “In addition to drawing attention to the positive aspects of ethanol, the coalition will help build support for legislation in Madison that will lower fuel prices by as much as $.10 a gallon through the use of 10 percent ethanol in Wisconsin’s fuels.”

The E-10 legislation (AB 15 and SB 15) currently pending in the Wisconsin Legislature has broad support from a bipartisan coalition of legislators in both houses and has the support of Governor Doyle.

“Ethanol is not only great for Wisconsin’s environment as a renewable fuel, it’s good for our economy because it creates jobs right here in Wisconsin,” said John Malchine of Badger Ethanol, another lead partner in the coalition.

“By passing legislation requiring 10 percent ethanol for Wisconsin fuels, we’re helping the state’s economy by lowering gas prices,” said AB15 co-author State Representative Steve Freese from Dodgeville. “We’re also increasing our energy independence by reducing our need for foreign oil. We can help Wisconsin be more dependent on the Midwest rather than the Middle East.”

The website www.wisconsinethanol.com will help educate consumers about the environmental and economic benefits of ethanol and the importance of passing E-10 legislation. It will also highlight recent news about ethanol in Wisconsin.
