We Energies: Urges Support for Public Benefits Funding

Milwaukee — We Energies urges members of the Joint Finance Committee to retain public benefits funding.

Public benefits funding is important to We Energies and its customers for a number of reasons. First, as a member of the Governor’s Task Force on Renewables and Energy Efficiency, we are committed to secure funding for important conservation programs.

Second, we are concerned about upward pressure on our customers’ rates. It is important that our customers get the most value they can for the amounts they must pay. Public benefits funding adds value by helping to conserve energy and reduce customers’ costs.

Third, We Energies has established a conservation goal. As a function of that goal, We Energies helps customers use energy more efficiently. Since the late 1980s, energy efficiency programs have reduced the company’s peak demand by more than 500 megawatts. Working with Focus on Energy, We Energies offers programs and services that helps customers improve energy efficiency in their homes, buildings and factories. Programs offer a full range of customer technologies and services tied to energy use. We provide information on purchasing energy-efficient equipment, and on designing new homes and buildings, consequently providing economic and environmental benefits.

Please vote to retain the public benefits funding.
