VideoStory Honored to Introduce Milwaukee to China

MILWAUKEE, WI (October 18, 2005) – When the Metropolitan Association of Commerce announced plans for MMAC President Tim Sheehy and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett to lead trade-building visits to China, marketing the Milwaukee region was at the top of the priority list.

A key component of the marketing efforts is a video showcasing the region that encompasses Milwaukee, Waukesha, Kenosha, Racine, Washington and Ozaukee counties. Julie Granger, MMAC Vice President of Communications, asked Brien Lee VideoStory to create a video that showcases the Milwaukee area, its people and its economic strengths, all within the context of Chinese ideals.

“I was impressed by the energy and credibility VideoStory brought to the project,” said Granger. “They understand visual storytelling, which was critical for this video because we used limited narration.”

VideoStory used a native Chinese calligrapher, Dr. Anthony Wu, to create the Chinese characters for Good Fortune, Beautiful, Prosperity, Longevity and Happiness that introduce each video segment. In addition, Beijing-born business consultant Sherry Liu translated the script into Mandarin and provided the voiceover narration for the Chinese-language version of the video that will be distributed during the mayor’s visit this month.

“This project presented us with exciting challenges,” said Brien Lee, President of Brien Lee VideoStory. “We had to ensure the translation was accurate, the graphics and colors had positive implications and that the final DVD would play in Chinese video players. The Chinese have very formal business traditions and we needed to make sure that nothing in the video would present an awkward situation.”
