UW Oshkosh: Nationally recognized finance scholar joins biz faculty

OSHKOSH – Scott Beyer, a nationally recognized scholar in political and monetary policy and corporate debt issues, has joined the finance faculty in the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh College of Business Administration.

Beyer’s 2004 paper, “Don’t Worry About the Election, Just Watch the Fed,” with
G. R. Jensen and R. R. Johnson, was the subject of an ABC World News Special Report, and reports on CNN, CNBC and in The Wall Street Journal.

The paper was picked up by the Associated Press as a special article and published in more than 150 newspapers and journals.

Beyer, a 1986 graduate of Appleton East High School, has been invited to present his research at Auburn University, Norte Dame, Kent State and other universities.

He holds a doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a master’s degree from Western Illinois University and a bachelor’s from UW-Madison.

Before coming to UW-Oshkosh, he was a faculty member at Northern Illinois University and UW-Parkside. He also has taught many Chartered Financial Analyst review courses.

At UW-Oshkosh, Beyer will teach courses in corporate finance, investments, derivatives/risk management and international finance.
