Milwaukee, WI – Mayor Tom Barrett announced today his plans to host “Business Resource Expo – Building Networks, Capacity and Opportunities.” At this June 6, 2005 full-day event, the Mayor will bring together small business owners, business leaders, financial experts and City and public officials to examine ways to enhance support for Milwaukee’s small business community.
“I am pleased to host this event and the timing couldn’t be better,” said Mayor Barrett. “As we seek to grow our economy, the City, region and state’s success will depend on the economic vitality and growth of Milwaukee’s small businesses.”
This event will include highly interactive panel discussions on financial services, business development and contract opportunities in Milwaukee. WMCS Radio-1290 broadcaster, Keith Murphy, will moderate the event. Dennis Archer, former Mayor of the City of Detroit and current member of the Johnson Controls Board of Directors, will deliver the keynote luncheon address. As a prominent business leader, Archer will speak on his experiences and remarkable achievements in improving Detroit’s business environment and how we can strengthen the capacity of small businesses in Milwaukee.
“It is crucial that we heighten our efforts to assist Milwaukee’s small businesses striving to be competitive,” said Mayor Barrett. “As Mayor of the City of Milwaukee, I am committed to supporting and accelerating the growth of Milwaukee’s small businesses and invite interested citizens to take part in this event.”
