Marquette University: Herbert V. Kohler, Jr. to be Honored by Marquette University Award to recognize service from non-alumni

Released: April 22, 2005

Herbert V. Kohler, Jr., chairman of the board, CEO and president of Kohler Co., will be honored by the Marquette University Alumni Association at its annual Alumni National Awards Dinner on Saturday, April 23. Kohler will be the only non-alumnus to be honored, and will be presented with the Friend of the University Award.

Through the creative vision and generous financial support of the Kohler Co., the Kohler Center for Entrepreneurship was established in the College of Business Administration at Marquette University in 2000. The center provides numerous learning opportunities for Marquette students, including an entrepreneurship major for undergraduates. Additionally, the center serves as a resource for the broader community, offering programs such as the owner manager certificate program, which serves emerging business leaders, and the Golden Angels Network, which links aspiring entrepreneurs with investors that can help them realize their dreams. Thanks largely to the Kohler Company’s commitment to the university, Marquette was recognized last year as one of the top entrepreneurial colleges and universities in the nation by Entrepreneurial Magazine. He and his wife, Natalie Black, are members of Marquette’s 1881 Society.

The Alumni National Awards dinner is part of Marquette University’s Alumni Awards weekend, during which each college honors the contributions of their alumni and bestows awards on those demonstrating exceptional achievement.
