MADISON – Small and medium sized businesses interested in learning how to
begin exporting will want to attend the Governor’s Conference on Exporting
on Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at the Italian Community Center in Milwaukee. Gov.
Doyle’s Wisconsin International Trade Council (WITCO) is organizing the
event. Companies that register by COB May 6 can attend the conference free
of charge. Space is limited, so sign up now.

“My Grow Wisconsin plan calls for building Wisconsin’s economy by increasing
our exports and exploring new markets for our products,” Gov. Doyle said.
“This conference is designed to offer advice from successful exporters and
export service providers who helped grow Wisconsin’s exports to $13 billion
in 2004. The Department of Commerce estimates that there are several hundred
Wisconsin firms that could accelerate growth and profits by finding offshore
markets for their products and services.”

The conference will address topics such as International Law, International
Programs, and the Do’s and Taboos of International Trade. Speakers include
professionals from the Department of Commerce, the Department of
Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection’s International Agri-Business
Center; and private-sector small business exporters. Participants also have
the opportunity to sit with Wisconsin’s six Overseas Office Directors at a
luncheon held in conjunction with the Milwaukee International Trade
Conference.

The registration fee for the all-day program, which includes the morning
session, lunch, afternoon Wisconsin International Trade Conference and
reception, is $130. The registration fee for attending the morning program
and the luncheon is $70. The registration fee for participating in either
the morning program or the luncheon is $35.
