MADISON – Governor Jim Doyle today announced that three Wisconsin businesses
will receive funding for technology development projects from the Department
of Commerce (Commerce) Technology Assistance Grant (TAG) Program.

“Through my ‘Grow Wisconsin’ initiative, we are supporting and assisting
entrepreneurs to develop new high-tech businesses that create good paying
jobs for our state,” Governor Doyle said. “These types of companies help
continue to move Wisconsin’s economy to the high end, and I am pleased that
we could assist with the growth and development of three companies with
great potential – Bell Brook Labs, PhysioGenix, and TFX Bioscience.”

The projects are as follows:

* Bell Brook Labs, LLC, is a Madison company established in 2002 to
develop biological assay systems and methods of calculation to more
accurately describe human disease processes and therefore enable more
rational drug discovery. It will receive a $10,500 TAG to hire professional
services necessary to complete a patent application filing for the company’s
technology. For more information on the company, visit
www.bellbrooklabs.com.

*
* PhysioGenix, Inc. is a Wauwatosa company established in 1997 to
provide contract research services to the pharmaceutical industry. It will
receive a $8,400 TAG to hire professional services to complete the
development of a five-year strategic comprehensive business plan. For more
information on the company, visit www.physogenix.com.

*
* TFX Bioscience LLC is a Madison company established in 2004 to
develop chemical-free products that can be used by growers of high-value
crops to manage disease. It will receive a $6,750 TAG to hire the
professional services necessary to prepare federal grant applications to
advance the company’s technology development. For more information on the
company, visit www.tfxbioscience.com.

The TAG Program provides grants of up to $15,000 to early-stage Wisconsin
high-tech companies to offset costs of hiring qualified independent parties
to perform professional services. For further assistance, contact John
