Dept. of Commerce: Governor Doyle Announces $250,000 in Agricultural Development Zone Tax Credits For Birchwood Lumber & Veneer in Clark County

Governor Jim Doyle today announced that Birchwood Lumber and
Veneer, Thorp, Clark County, will receive $250,000 in Agricultural
Development Zone tax credits from the Department of Commerce (Commerce) to
help the company purchase and equip a facility in Thorp.

“My ‘Grow Wisconsin’ Initiative is designed to help
businesses make a lasting investment in Wisconsin’s economy,” Governor Doyle
said. “These tax credits will help Birchwood Lumber and Veneer make
investments in its employees, business, and community. I’m pleased that my
Administration is helping the company expand its business.”

Birchwood Lumber and Veneer is the largest producer of
commercial and architectural hardwood door coverings in the United States.
The company is investing $1 million to purchase and equip the new facility.
The project will create 100 jobs and retain 230 jobs and the total project
cost is $1 million.
