FOR RELEASE TUESDAY, JUNE 1, 2005

GREENVILLE, Pa. – AT&T today announced that it has won a three-year networking contract from Werner Co., the world’s leading manufacturer and distributor of climbing equipment, to integrate company locations in the United States and Mexico. Terms were not disclosed.

AT&T will deploy an Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN) integrating Werner’s manufacturing facilities and management offices. The IP VPN provides Werner employees secure, high-speed access to company databases and proprietary applications. It also paves the way for Werner to evolve to a converged voice and data-networking platform by deploying Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services in the future.

“AT&T had the technical expertise and record of reliability we could build our business on,” said Rob Rosati, chief information officer for Werner Co. “The on-demand manufacturing that makes our business a global market leader depends on a seamless flow of information from our sales team to our assembly line to our procurement team to the board room. AT&T gives us peace-of-mind.”
With this contract, AT&T becomes the exclusive networking services carrier for Werner.

Werner can also monitor the performance of its network and applications through the secure AT&T customer portal, AT&T BusinessDirectâ, which provides operational efficiencies including around-the-clock online access to real-time reports on network performance and direct connection to trouble management systems.
