Aidmatrix Foundation: Awarded $250,000 Meadows Grant

Continues Responding to Emergency Needs in Texas following Rita and Katrina

Dallas, Texas – Oct 03, 2005 The Aidmatrix Foundation, a young Dallas-based international nonprofit lead by Governor Scott McCallum has been awarded $250,000 to develop technology and infrastructure to improve the delivery of humanitarian aid following disasters and emergencies in Texas. Governor McCallum, formerly of Wisconsin said, “We are very honored by the trust and confidence which the Meadows Foundation has demonstrated in Aidmatrix. Although we are a small charitable organization, we are beginning to make a big impact on post-Hurricane relief efforts.” Working with and through national and local government, charity and corporate partners, Aidmatrix empowers first responder organizations like America’s Second Harvest — The Nation’s Food Bank Network, National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOADs), and others by linking resources where and when needed. Aidmatrix’ mission is getting the right aid to the right people at the right time. McCallum went on to say, “Often the biggest problem facing these organizations is not a shortage of donated items, although that can be the case. The problem is connecting the most needed items to the people who need them most in an efficient manner without having to deal with the burden of unneeded donations”, which can clog supply channels and cause what he calls “a secondary disaster”.

Aidmatrix COO Keith Thode saw the affected areas first hand as a first-responder saying, “In some cases, our humanitarian aid partners were literally crying out for our solutions and expertise. We answered the call immediately, having faith that our current supporters would sustain us during this unique time. The Meadows Foundation responded, and together we were able to make a dramatic impact for Texans and for those who evacuated to our state.”

Aidmatrix has orchestrated over 30 million pounds of aid, $1.6 million in cash contributions through more than 100 Virtual Aid Drives, benefiting 25 nonprofit partner organizations serving Texas and the Gulf Coast Region since Hurricanes Katrina and Rita came ashore.
