Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry’s decision to do debate prep in Spring Green next week is putting the small town in the national spotlight.

“People are curious,” said Dawn Eno of the Spring Green Chamber of Commerce. “With him visiting here, it draws a lot of attention to the area.” Eno said that most of the calls have been from the media and that some national media have made reservations at the House on the Rock Resort.

“It’s a warm community; friendly,” Eno said. “It’s a small place, but it has lots of culture.”

Eno said that Kerry’s stay, which will last from Sunday through Wednesday, will definitely help the town’s economy, especially since Kerry chose Spring Green over countless other towns to have his stay.

Walter Frank, president of the Chamber said, “Spring Green is a classic retreat location for him to spend time reflecting on his upcoming presidential debate.”
