Madison, Wisconsin—Wipfli Young is pleased to announce their upcoming sales and use tax seminars being offered to manufacturers on December 14, 2004 and to contractors on January 14, 2005. These free seminars are designed to provide guidance to manufacturers and contractors in complying with sales and use tax rules.

“A majority of the Wisconsin Department of revenue audits involves sales and use tax considerations. Manufacturers and contractors can incur substantial interest and penalties or even overpay their taxes if they file incorrectly,” says Rick Sass, Partner, Wipfli Young. ”We aim to help them pay the proper amount of tax by bringing them up to speed on this matter.”

At this interactive seminar, along with sales and use tax rules, Wipfli Young’s tax professionals will also provide an overview of what the American Jobs Creation Act of 2004 means for manufacturers and contractors, including:

· New deductions for manufacturers

· Revisions to depreciation rules

· Additional incentives and other taxpayer-favorable provisions

· Other revenue-raising provisions

· Tougher nonqualified deferred compensation rules

Seminars will be held at Wipfli Young, 2901 West Beltline Highway, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. To register go to www.wipfli.com or call Irene Scallon at 608.270.2950. She can also be emailed at iscallon@wipfliyoung.com.

Rick Sass is available for interviews. If you wish to speak with him please call April Eichmeier at 608.270.2930 or email her at aeichmeier@wipfliyoung.com.
