MADISON – Gov. Jim Doyle announced today that Jenkins Research and Manufacturing Corporation, Fitchburg, Dane County, in the Capital Ideas Technology Zone, will receive $50,000 in Technology Zone tax credits. The Capital Ideas Technology Zone includes the counties of Dane, Jefferson, and Rock.

“My Grow Wisconsin initiative emphasizes the key role of technology development in the continued economic growth of our state,” Gov. Doyle said. “I am pleased to provide funding to Jenkins Research and Manufacturing Corporation. My administration is committed to supporting projects that will generate additional high-paying jobs needed for Wisconsin’s strong future.”

“The adaptation and utilization of this company’s new axis machining center, upgraded computers and related components will dramatically increase the company’s overall manufacturing capacities, efficiencies and quality control measures,” said James Otterstein, Capital Ideas Technology Zone representative.

Jenkins Research and Manufacturing Corporation specializes in custom machining, welding, and fabricating parts for the medical devices industry. It is investing $160,000 in new equipment to meet customer demand. The project will retain 18 positions. It will create eight positions at an average wage of $14.38/hour.

The Capital Ideas Technology Zone provides incentives for high-tech growth in knowledge-based, manufacturing, biotechnology, food processing, and business services industry clusters, among others.
