Dept. of Commerce: Gov. Doyle Announces Early Planning Grants

MADISON – Gov. Jim Doyle today announced that 14 Wisconsin businesses will share $40,191 in funding from the Department of Commerce’s Early Planning Grant (EPG) Program.

“My Grow Wisconsin plan calls for improving the business climate for start-ups,” Gov. Doyle said. “These grants will help entrepreneurs and small businesses obtain professional advice in assessing the feasibility of their business ideas.”

The projects are as follows:

Fabrication Express, LLC, Green Bay, Brown County, $3,000 Urban Early Planning Grant (UEPG)

Fabrication Express, LLC will use the funds to hire the professional services necessary to evaluate the feasibility of starting a sheet metal job shop.

Precision Information, LLC, Madison, Dane County, $3,000 UEPG

Precision Information, LLC will use the funds to hire the professional services necessary to evaluate the feasibility of expanding its financial education products.

John F. Olson, Wausau, Marathon County, $3,000 UEPG

John Olson will use the funds to hire the professional services necessary to evaluate the feasibility of starting a manufacturing business that would make concrete pump valves.

Ronald W. Zimmerman, Appleton, Outagamie County, $3,000 UEPG

Ronald Zimmerman will use the funds to hire the professional services necessary to evaluate the feasibility of starting an independent compliance laboratory business.

Andrew M. Lake, Kimberly, Outagamie County, $1,875 UEPG

Andrew Lake will use the funds for professional services to evaluate the feasibility of a paper converting business that would specialize in slitting and festooning pulp-based absorbent material.

Edward A. Slye, Grafton, Ozaukee County, $3,000 UEPG

Edward Slye will use the funds to hire the services necessary to evaluate the feasibility of starting a business to provide precision engine rebuilding services.

SRPM, LLC, New Berlin, Waukesha County, $2,650 UEPG

SRPM, LLC will use the funds for the professional services necessary to evaluate the feasibility of starting a business to manufacture and distribute a patented roadway machine device.

Bioelectromagnetics, Inc., Hartland, Waukesha County, $2,666 UEPG

Bioelectromagnetics, Inc. will use the funds to hire professional services to evaluate the feasibility of establishing a business to develop Electrolonic Processing for the disinfection of wastewater.

Paul F. Umbeck, Madison, Dane County, $3,000 UEPG

Paul Umbeck will use the funds to hire the professional services necessary to evaluate the feasibility of starting a plant research laboratory and greenhouse facility.

A Enterprises, Inc., Pewaukee, Waukesha County, $3,000 UEPG

A Enterprises, Inc. will use the funds to evaluate the feasibility of starting a business to manufacture a small, lightweight camper that can be towed behind a snowmobile or ATV.

Jae Kwang Park, Verona, Dane County, $3,000 Minority Early Planning Grant (MEPG)

Jae Kwang Park will use the funds to hire the professional services necessary to evaluate the feasibility of starting a business to create recycled tire chips to reduce water pollution.

Speech Mobile, Inc., Madison, Dane County, $3,000 MEPG

Speech Mobile, Inc. Will use the funds to hire the professional services necessary to evaluate the feasibility of expanding wireless application solution.

Latoyia M. Henning, Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, $3,000 MEPG

Latoyia Henning will use the funds to hire the professional services necessary to evaluate the feasibility of starting an advanced educational childcare facility.

ADI, Inc., Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, $3,000 MEPG

ADI, Inc. will use the funds to hire the professional services necessary to evaluate the feasibility of expanding the existing interior design company and space planning business.

Entrepreneurs and small businesses throughout Wisconsin can access early planning grants to assist them in obtaining the professional services necessary to evaluate the feasibility of a proposed start-up or expansion project. Specific allocations have been set aside for dairy farmers, rural businesses, recycling firms, and enterprises owned by people with disabilities or members of minority groups.
