NEENAH, Wis. (September 2, 2005)—A convoy of Michels Power employees and equipment are on their way to the Gulf Coast to help rebuild the electrical transmission and distribution infrastructure and assist in clean up after Hurricane Katrina devastated more than 400 miles of coast line earlier this week.
Thirty employees and 24 trucks, including diggers, pole trailers and bucket trucks, left Michels Power’s Neenah headquarters yesterday. They are expected to arrive in Jackson, Miss., this evening. Michels Power is a division of Brownsville-based Michels Corporation.
“Our motto is ‘Building America, Changing the World,’” said Pat Michels, president of Michels Corporation. “When Mississippi Power, a Southern Company, called to bring us on board, we were honored to be a part of the effort to rebuild after the hurricane. Restoring power to this devastated region is one of the most vital first steps in helping our neighbors in the south get back on their feet. It has been my experience that the worst of times often bring out the best in America. I am proud to say that our company’s help is on its way.”
