Eagle, Wis. – Celebrate the end of summer and “Hop Into Fall” at the Hop Harvest Weekend at Old World Wisconsin. On September 2-4, guests can partake in hop harvesting, traditional brewing and heritage cooking with hops and yeast.

“Bring the whole family out for a weekend of family-friendly activities,” said Dan Freas, site director at Old World Wisconsin. “All weekend long activities will include baking, harvesting hops, working in the blacksmith’s shop, teaching lessons in a one-room schoolhouse and much more!”

Guests will experience a variety of programs that will engage the senses. As part of Old World Wisconsin’s historic brewing program, staff and volunteers have spent the season planting and cultivating a hops field. Guests will have the opportunity to take part in a community hop harvest, a tradition that has continued from generations past. After the harvest, guests can savor a refreshing cold beer in the German Settlement area and talk with Old World Wisconsin’s historic brewing team. In partnership with Delafield Brewhaus, Old World Wisconsin will brew up a historic 19th century beer using brewing equipment and processes of that period, while guests have the opportunity to learn about how the steps of historic brewing vary from modern day practice, talk with Master Brewers, enjoy a cold local beer, and experience a living tradition that makes Wisconsin great. Also available for purchase are traditional German pretzels and root beer along with games for younger guests to enjoy.

Hop into Fall Weekend will take place from September 2-4, 10:00a.m to 5:00p.m daily. All Wisconsin Historical Society members receive free admission to Old World Wisconsin. Admission rates: Adults (18-64) $19; children (5-17) $10; (children 4 and under are free); Senior citizens (65 and over) $16. Fees include an all-day tram transportation pass. Parking is free.
