House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer and Rep. Gwen Moore meet in Milwaukee to discuss the growth of Energy Power Control Industries

[Milwaukee, WIs.] – Today, the Midwest Energy Research Consortium (M-WERC) hosted House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer and Milwaukee’s own Rep. Gwen Moore for a discussion on the growth of the Energy Power and Control Industries. The tour also included an overview of its WERCBench Labs program and the organization’s efforts to foster new companies. After the initial discussion, the members of Congress were taken on a site tour of the Energy Innovation Center, the former location of the Eaton Corporation.

“It was a privilege and an honor to host both Representative Moore and House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer here at the hub of M-WERC’s activity, the Energy Innovation Center,” said W-MERC’s Executive Director and CEO Alan Perlstein. “Innovation within the energy sector is a powerful engine for economic and community development here in Wisconsin. It is important to have representative leadership in Washington that support growth opportunities like M-WERC and it’s Energy Innovation Center.

“This unique opportunity to learn about the technological advances and tremendous work produced by the innovative minds at M-WERC makes me proud to call Milwaukee home,” said Representative Gwen Moore. “The work going on at the Energy Innovation Center is world class and is helping grow not only our region, but our state as well.”

“Today’s discussion demonstrated just how important it is that we find ways to continue supporting new and innovative energy technologies,” said House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer. “Expanding innovation and entrepreneurship is a key part of House Democrats’ Make It In America plan, and I was pleased to see how M-WERC is leading the way in innovative thinking and supporting new companies that will create jobs here in the U.S.”
